Learning Opportunities

Come and learn from other participating schools about their high school redesign initiatives and explore ways to implement the strategies and ideas in your own context. These collaborative days are designed to support educators and leaders on their journey through high school redesign. The breakout sessions will provide you with an opportunity to hear others’ stories regarding a wide range of redesign topics. The 2019 Fall Teacher Collaborative includes 60 professional learning sessions over two days offering educators creative ways to initiate meaningful learning opportunities in Alberta high schools. Given the current context of diversity in our high schools, this year’s theme encourages educators to explore, “Who is the Adolescent Learner?” Breakout sessions highlight classroom, school and jurisdiction structures, as well as instructional approaches to improving engagement and student success. Many exciting opportunities for focused conversations and networking will be provided! Presenters include community partners, ministry staff, and educators from all regions of the province targeting topics of interest, for both schools initiating changes and those that have operationalized their redesign practices.
