Following this workshop, the teachers will receive a pass code to electronically download the Excel Class Summary Sheet and Activities for Teachers to Build Reading Readiness Skills – Part 1 from the Right to Read website.
Following the second workshop, Activities for Teachers to Build Reading Readiness Skills – Part 2 andActivities for Parents to Build Reading Readiness Skills along with suggestions for conducting a Parent Workshop can be downloaded from the Right to Read website.
This learning opportunity is being offered through a grant from Alberta Education.
Lana Lane is an Independent Literacy Consultant. She resides on an acreage outside of Canada's only Border City, Lloydminster, Saskatchewan. She is happily married to Kevin, an Educator for 22 years. In 2014, Kevin and Lana became part owners of Rusway Construction, the family Water and Sewer business. They have 3 children, only one living at home. Lana is a certified power skating instructor and past owner of a Booster Juice business in Strathmore, Alberta. She has been a classroom teacher of Pre K-Gr. 2, an Instructional Literacy Coach, and was recently hired by the LDAA (Learning Disabilities Association of Alberta) to
facilitate workshops on the RRST (Reading Readiness Screening Tool). Lana has spent numerous years studying the five essential elements of effective reading instruction; Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary and Comprehension. Literacy always finds her, and she enjoys sharing this passion with others.
