The theme for ARES 2019 is, “Schools & Communities - Partners in Action”. This year's symposium will focus on informing and assisting education and municipal leaders in the creation of partnerships that will mutually benefit both the local school and the community. The recently updated Municipal Government Act contains a new mandate regarding the creation of Joint Use and Planning Agreements (JUPAs) between school divisions and municipalities. Our 2019 symposium will assist education and municipal leaders in starting this important work. We know that so much more can be accomplished when ministries work together, sharing resources and expertise.
Sunday evening Ministerial Panel: Minister of Education, David Eggen, and Minister of Municipal Affairs, Shaye Anderson, will be accompanied by one other Minister yet to be named, to provide information on the work of government to support rural Alberta communities. Time will be available to pose questions to the Minister’s in attendance. Following the Minister's Panel, a Minister's Reception will allow participants to engage Ministers and MLA's in one on one conversations.
