The Power of Making Thinking Visible explains how educators can effectively use thinking routines and other tools to engage and empower students as learners and transform classrooms into places of deep learning.
Visible Thinking involves using thinking routines, documentation, and effective questioning and listening techniques to enhance learning and collaboration in any learning environment.
Please join us for a series of 7 one-hour online book study sessions to learn practical strategies you can use in any grade level classroom. One chapter will be discussed at each session.
Trisha Sotropa is currently a Learning Facilitator with the Southern Alberta Professional Development Consortium. During her career as an educator, she has been involved in leading literacy projects, facilitating social justice initiatives with students and coordinating cooperative planning. During her doctoral studies, Trisha investigated leading through a change process and engaging students and their families. Trisha has a deep love of learning and is always looking for ways to co-construct knowledge with colleagues.
Kathy Charchun is currently a Learning Facilitator with the Southern Alberta Professional Development Consortium. She has been an educator for 30 years serving as a teacher, principal and K-12 divisional Numeracy Lead. In these roles, she has facilitated professional learning sessions on a variety of teaching and learning topics including mathematics, instructional leadership and goal setting and planning for school improvement. Kathy is passionate about promoting highly effective teacher practice, believes in the power of collaboration and is committed to success for all students within an inclusive environment.

Participants will need to access a copy of the book "The Power of Making Thinking Visible" by Ron Ritchart & Mark Church. Pre-reading is recommended.
