In this workshop participants will learn:
During the workshop participants will play a variety of hands-on games and activities and learn teaching strategies that incorporate the use of easily found cards and dice – manipulatives that families can have on hand at home. Concepts covered will include operational fluency and place value. The handout will include new assessment checklists, journal masters and gameboards. Come prepared to play and be engaged!
Jane Felling is the co-author of the award winning Box Cars and One-Eyed Jacks math and literacy series and has been an international speaker for the past 25 years. She has provided workshops in the area of using games as a teaching strategy to thousands of teachers and school districts across North America and has taught students from K - grade 9 as part of her contracts. She has been a featured and invited speaker at the National ASCD several times as well as spoken at the past 20 national NCTM's, and regionals. Jane completed her masters in the area of games as a teaching strategy and is passionate about engaging all learners - teachers and students alike. Over the past two years, Jane has written and published 4 new resources.
