Target Audience:  K-4 Elementary teachers and Librarians

How do I take an equity approach with very young children? I care deeply about developing a more inclusive classroom but how do I make sure I don’t inadvertently cause more harm? How can I help my students explore their own identities and expose them to experiences and stories that will broaden their worldview? In this series, we will:

• engage as a community of thinkers to explore these questions and more
• think critically and collaboratively about our own experiences and identities and how they inform our teaching decisions
• examine practical approaches and strategies to decenter white narratives in elementary literacy learning in thoughtful ways that foster a sense of inclusion and belonging.

is a former public school educator in Ontario and has been working with The Critical Thinking Consortium for over a decade, currently as its Executive Director.  She has been privileged to work with educators of all age groups and subject areas across Canada to support their efforts to nurture better quality thinking in all their learners .
